Transitioning from healthcare to tech wasn’t something I imagined at the start of my career. As a pharmacist in a hospital, I was used to structured routines and clinical environments. But over time, I found myself increasingly fascinated by how technology was reshaping every industry - including healthcare. I wanted to be part of that change, not just observe it from the sidelines. That curiosity led me to enrol in the SCTP Full Stack Developer course at BELLS. Coming from a non-tech background, I was initially unsure if I could keep up. But the programme broke things down in a way that was approachable, hands-on, and relevant to the real world. From front-end to back-end, I gained the skills and confidence to build actual applications. What stood out most was how practical and industry-aligned the course was and readily preparing us for real developer roles. Today, I’ve successfully made the switch and am working as a software engineer. It’s a completely different pace from pharmacy, but I’ve never felt more energized and excited about where I’m heading.

When I first graduated, I spent about a year feeling lost in my career. Although I worked briefly in the financial industry, I found the work mundane. At the same time, I was deeply curious about tech - whether it was building PCs from scratch or exploring the mechanics behind online games. That growing interest eventually led me to take a leap of faith and enroll in the Fullstack Development Bootcamp at BELLS Institute of Higher Learning. The bootcamp gave me hands-on experience with React and Node.js, sharpened my problem-solving skills, and exposed me to real-world projects, collaborative coding, and career coaching support. With the practical skills from BELLS and a more targeted resume and LinkedIn profile, I eventually secured a role as a software engineer at a local company. Looking back, the BELLS-SSG SCTP Programme, combined with my perseverance and the support from the BELLS Tech team, truly gave me the confidence and capabilities to switch into a tech career.
